The son of a public school teacher and the grandson of an entrepreneurial grandmother, Brian Collie is an old soul. A real estate lawyer in Charleston, South Carolina, commercial and residential, Brian’s life passions are his family, his friends, and Clemson football. As an attorney, Brian has done all the things: has his name on the shingle with his law partner, Jim Buxton; did well in law school; MBA; and LLM. What more from a credential perspective might one ask for?
But the arc of life inevitably shows, in ways unique to everyone, that life’s not all about that. For Brian, it has become more clear in how he invests his time for as they say: one’s calendar is the best demonstration of priorities. As Brian enters the next season of his career (and life) as a more experienced attorney + raising older children the question is: what’s next? What, if anything, does he hope changes, or he can do more of? And then perhaps circling back, what did he learn from his entrepreneurial grandmother who blazed a trail of financial independence in (what was then) rural South Carolina?
