The Human Lawyer

Human Lawyer Podcast: Landis Wade

March 24, 2020

Son of a lawyer, recovering lawyer, author, podcast founder, and philanthropist—those are some words to describe Landis Wade. Words, however, don’t capture the breadth and depth of Landis. Ever the preparer, Landis and I exchanged emails in preparation for this podcast (at Landis’ direction) all because Landis wanted to prepare. He’s always prepared.

He treats his podcast the same way a lawyer treats a deposition. He pores through an author’s work, identifies key points, and cultivates a deeper dive into those points because his goal is to “give a voice to an author’s written word.” A voice he has given. His podcast is Charlotte Reader’s Podcast, which was recognized last year as Charlotte’s best podcast by the Queen City Nerve.

Today, we’re going to talk with Landis about changes he’s seen in the practice of law; his personal phrase of “Always Believe,” depression, and as many other topics as we can cover in this space. Thank you for being a guest of the Human Lawyer podcast, Landis.

Amplifying human stories to explore how those stories inform people’s work as lawyers. Our mission: to expand the margin we have for other lawyers by focusing on that which makes us human to identify how the “human stuff” leads lawyers to a fulfilled career, whether in the law or something else.

the human lawyer is a 501(c)(3) north carolina non-profit corporation. it is not a law firm. it will never be a law firm. it does not offer legal services. it never will. the lawyers featured are completely independent and unaffiliated. they always will be. we focus exclusively on human storytelling through a variety of different mediums. if you are compelled to support: first, thank you; and second, all contributions are tax-deductible in furtherance of our charitable purpose.
