Everyone has their first, and today marks a first for the human lawyer podcast: a guest who is a judicial officer. Yep, that’s Renee Little: Assistant Clerk and Judicial Hearing Officer working in the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court’s office.
Most laypersons and heck lawyers (guilty as charged) don’t appreciate the scope of responsibilities for a clerk of court and hearing officer. They are too numerous to list, but the responsibilities share a common thread: they are high touch and public facing. Renee and folks on her team are the face of our local judicial system. That’s a heavy load to carry.
To better understand that load, we asked Renee to be a guest today. Fortunately, she accepted. She’s busy, so let’s get to it.
