Dancing in the rain with Ryan Alshak, the CEO and founder of Time by Ping. Preparing for this episode brings this truth to life: we all have a superpower. What’s yours?
Ryan’s is his mom, who’s now his guardian angel. She ascended into guardian status right after he achieved a monumental professional feat: closing his first seed round for his company, Time by Ping. For those who familiar with that startup life, the seed round in so many ways feels like a lifeboat. Others believe in something you’ve believed in from the start. That’s validation. But, in Ryan’s case, the validation was met with emotional debilitation.
But perhaps Ryan’s capacity to keep pushing was fueled by his perspective while helping his mom cope with her terminal illness. Witnessing his dad’s love for his mom and his mom’s undying spirit, Ryan has learned that true love isn’t romantic and starting a business is hard because you suck. We dance anyway and we rise again. Isn’t that right, Ryan?
