You may know Spencer Merriweather as the man on TV — the leading man in the District Attorney’s office, explaining court cases and their verdicts in a way news viewers can understand. His job is important and complex – but so is he.
The first black District Attorney in Mecklenburg County’s history, he’s also only the county’s third DA in 43 years. Two previous DA’s left big shoes to fill, but Spencer has done a lot of walking. From rec centers in southern Alabama to student government president at Princeton, he’s walked the walk and is now talking the talk. And such a complex guy has a long and winding road behind him to talk about.
