From the outside, Steve Dunn is an artist and a creative. Two words possibly buried in your thesearus when looking to describe an employment lawyer turned mediator.
Digging deeper, one may appreciate that artistic talent and creative thought processes are two musical notes that sing in the world of alternative dispute resolution. For Steve, his primary professional task is creating agreement amongst disagreeable people. He must understand psychology, emotion, and sometimes the law: maybe in that order. He does this work at Miles Mediation.
But you get the sense, whether in a Google search or a quick conversation, that the law is just the tip of Steve’s iceberg. It’s the vehicle through which he pursues creative endeavors, like: serving on the board of Boom, where he helped produce Act:Now—a collaboration between BLKMRKTCLT, Charlotte is Creative, and the Roll Up CLT; or serving on the board of Girls Rock Charlotte, helping girls stand up for themselves and for other girls through music.
No telling what Steve will create in this episode. But we’re here for it.
